Kate Ive is an award-winning Edinburgh based artist. She graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2008 with a degree in Sculpture BA (Hons), and works from her studio at Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop (ESW). Kate sculpts and carves by hand on both a monumental and minute scale with an eye for detail and intricacy in a wide range of materials including amongst others bronze, concrete, lead, jesmonite, wax, Corten steel, metal mesh and light filters. Kate pays close attention to the technical processes she uses in the design and production of her artwork including, drawing,engraving, scrimshaw, sculpting, medal making, casting, working with found objects, metal plating and ornamental turning.

Kate Ive has artworks in recognised public and private collections including the British Museum (London), Royal Mint Museum (Wales), the National Bank of Slovakia, University Museum of Bergen (Norway) and the Museo della Carta eFiligrana (Fabriano, Italy). In 2011 she was selected as the British Art Medal Society’s‘New Medallist 2011-12’, an award run by the British Art Medal Society supported by the British Museum, V&A, Royal Mint and the National Academy Sofia.

Kate maintains a diverse practice through which she makes work for exhibitions,residencies and public art commissions. She has created a number of notable artworks, including for Edinburgh’s Royal Hospital of Sick Children,Helensburgh Outdoor Museum, the City of Edinburgh Council’s Promenade and a number of sculpture commissions for Scottish Government campaigns.
